We are proud to announce that AKAS Tex has significantly increased its knitting capacity.
Due to the overwhelming demand for fabrics used in face masks and surgical gowns, we have increased our manufacturing capacity by almost 35%. By mid-year 2020 the demand for several fabrics increased exponentially and the fabrics were sold out almost as soon as they were ready. Five new high speed specialized knitting machines were added to our operations in 2020, facilitating the production of another 200,300 pounds per year in materials. These additions will bring capacity from a total of 375,000 lbs. per year to a total annual production capacity of 575,300 lbs.
Each of these machines is exclusively designed for the production of a particular proprietary fabric. The new knitting machines will accelerate the production of ProCool® interlock, 3 and 4D Zorb® fabrics , and TransWick® 1-Way Wicking fabrics. Most of the fabrics are patent-pending, and all are produced with US-sourced raw materials.
We are also excited to note that 50% of the increased production capacity will be dedicated to the US domestic market, and the remaining 50% will be available for our international markets, mainly Europe and Asia.
